The Ferrous Wear Meter Plus (FWM+) instrument provides an accurate means of detecting, measuring and trending quantity of ferromagnetic material, such as iron or steel, suspended in oils, greases or other fluid samples that have been in contact with the moving parts of the machinery.

The rugged, compact and stable instrument delivers results quickly and simply, ensuring fast, accurate and consistent management of lubricant samples.

Condition monitoring of machinery lubricants is an established method of predicting and avoiding impending machinery breakdown. Worn components can be identified early and replaced before any serious damage occurs. Production can be maintained, machinery life extended and the return on capital investment increased.

The FWM+ is an important tool for optimization of cylinder oil feed rates for slowspeed diesel (two-stroke) engines and can be used to detect and trend anomalous wear events. FWM+ can be used in conjunction with other products in the condition monitoring range – such as BN, Water, CCTK, and Total iron, to develop a much deeper understanding of health and operating parameters of these engines.

Features and Benefits

• Suitable for testing on-board vessels, on-site or in remote locations
• Simple, easy to operate instrument requiring minimal training
• Direct reading in ppm (mg/kg) or % on the LCD screen

The FWM is constructed using a sophisticated magnetometer adapted for field applications. A 5 mL test tube, filled with the sample, is placed directly in the hole in the instrument and its metallic content, in ppm or %, is displayed on the screen in less than 3 seconds.

For more information or a detailed discussion about your specific requirements please contact Parker or an authorized Parker distributor.

Parker’s range of sampling and storage products are designed to get a representative sample for testing in the FWM+ and DIGI+ range of test kits. Also view other products such as the Oil Test Centre for complete testing of fuels and lubricants. Parker also offers sensors in the condition monitoring range – such as FCS, MWDS and offline pqL, to develop a much deeper understanding of health and operating parameters of the machine.
